More billionaires, more inequality, more injustice and unfairness.

Preamble by: Richard Hil

The great beneficiaries since the GFC are the billionaires: there are more of them and they’re getting richer. The poor are getting a much smaller slice of the pie, and given the Australian government’s policy settings, it’s likely to carry on like this for a while yet. Trickledown effect? You tell me. More like gushing upwards. We shouldn’t be too surprised by the latest figures from Oxfam because what we’re witnessing is neoliberalism in action. The current economic system is designed to work in this way, to concentrate wealth and produce greater inequality.
